Recycled Hammock

Hammock

Oh, you comfy hammock...you mock me, don't you?

I was so happy to get this brand new hammock in the mail recently.  It's from the eco-goods company Gaiam and it's made from woven rope made entirely out of recyceld PET plastic.   In other words, it's plastic from old water bottles rewoven into yarn.  And because it's nylon, it won't mold or mildew, making it a comfy and clean choice for outdoor use.

What I love about my property is that I have these tall and sturdy trees dotted throughout.   So instead of investing in a hammock hanging piece of furniture, I can hang this eco hammock between trees...just like they do in magazines!

This was so simple to install, that I re-read the instructions to make sure I didn't skip a step (last thing you want to do is fling yourself into the hammock and have it come tumbling to the ground).

Now I'm obsessed with finding the right outdoor pillows and a little side table to match up with this.  Comfy, right?

Love the hammock and is it my monitor or is there really a purple haze in the pic? Either way, when do you have time to relax with all the traveling! I read your blog daily and you are inspiring me to be 'green' not quite there yet but on my way. Keep up the great work.

that's fantastic! i wish i didn't like in an urban cement block so that i could use a hammock =(

It's heaven! Throw in a tall glass of raspberry iced tea or lemonade and it's perfect! I hope you can see the stars at night - perhaps there's too many branches overhead... Do you have a fountain or water feature nearby? Enjoy your little piece of heaven! Best Wishes!

wow! this looks awesome. what a great way to spend a lazy day!
