Cooking School
Rancho La Puerta has a new cooking school called La Cocina que Canta. It's a school and culinary center that features an all-organic garden as well. Who better to lead us on this tour (and my cooking class) than the resident cat? He just sat there waiting for me to take his picture....
First, grab a hat. It's bright and sunny outside and you need to protect your skin from being scorched!
One size fits all!
Beautiful rosws of greens in sweeping patterns. The soft hay on each side makes it easy to walk and navigate through the fields.
This is the right way to pick a pepper. Don't just grab it and pull...instead, nudge it off the vine so other peppers can thrive.
Feels like Provence, doesn't it? I wish I could grow this in my backyard. But I live in a very shady climate, so it needs to wait.
Chef Matt Murray is visiting and gives us directions on what we're preparing for dinner using what we found.
My cooking partner Beth came from San Francisco for this trip. She has a new book coming out next year on detoxing your home from Rodale and told me my mattress is recommended in the book! Yeah, Beth! Here she is telling me to keep chopping corn and peppers for our dish.
And the finished feast. How delicious. Everything tasted so fresh and flavorful. If only I could cook like this everyday!
i want the hat. the hat looks good on you. so natural!
