Painted Duct Work?
The super energy efficient heating/cooling system is installed and up and running!
In the craft room, we found the easiest and most efficient way to heat/cool the space was to install a strip of exposed duct work from the ceiling. I have really tall ceilings in the house, so hanging this duct work from the ceiling does nothing to make it feel confined. In fact, I think it actually accentuates the height!
Anyway, I have been looking at the shiny galvanized metal and now I'm thinking I'm going to paint the whole thing a matte, solid color. So, I need your help choosing a color...
DARK BLUE

CHOCOLATE BROWN
LIGHT BLUE
MINTY GREEN
All of these colors are from Serena and Lily's eco-friendly paint line. Thanks for your help and input!

Id go for the chocolate brown. that way it will blend in with the ceiling.
the lighter colours will only accentuate it even more...

The dark blue would be a great contrast. The work you've done is great. I'm also renovating a house and love all the new energy saving products that are available!

I vote dark blue, so there is a contrast with the wood but it doesn't overly highlight it.

Don't paint it!

I vote for the dark blue! Ours are a matte dark brick red/orange, and I love how the deep color provides a nice contrast without standing out too much - I think the dark blue would be a great choice in that room.

Chocolate brown to fade into the ceiling!

Minty Green, or leave it unpainted

hi D
considering your other (GREAT!) choices, Im surprised you would paint it. Let it be what it is. Certainly dont paint it to try to hide it or blend it in.
8-)

I vote to not paint it. kinda sounds like you made up your mind to, but personally I'd leave it and see how it looks when everything is pulled together.

Danny, I think you should just wait. So many of the new items in your house go really well with the industrial look of exposed metal (the outet/switch covers, the icestone, the new light fixtures). Painting the ductwork is something easily done, but uneasily undone. Give yourself some time and see if that's really what you want to do. I think you should leave them alone.

I'd go with one of the lighter colors. The darker ones are more likely to show dust and dusting something that high up may not be something you want to do regularly. Then again if it really is that high up, you may not see the dust...

If you want it to blend in with the ceiling, I'd go with the brown. Otherwise, I love the dark blue for contrast...

I say don't paint it either. It looks like you have a vertical duct from a vent, that is also galvanized metal. So I vote to leave it and it'll have the same rustic feel like the rest of the house.

It's fine without the paint. But, if I had to choose one it would be the dark blue. Really nice color.

Live with it for a while. Then, if you still feel compelled to paint...go with one of the blues.

leave it, or go with the light blue :)

I vote for dark blue! It would contrast nicely...but I guess it depends on whatever other colors you will have in that room.

I like the dark blue. It won't blend in with the ceiling completely that way (like with the chocolate brown)...but will be enough contrast that you'll notice it. The two lighter colors would draw your eye right to them.

Don't paint it.

Chocolate Brown all the way!
We have massive ceilings in our place too, and I'm obsessed with painting them brown.
I think it will help them blend into the nice woodwork you have.

Dark blue. It will really go with the warmth of the ceiling. The light blue and the green are too cool. the chocolate brown is a possibility but I think it would detract from the textured warm color of the wood ceiling. I see you like simple clean lines but that much galvanized metal evokes distance and cold.

I personally like Dark Blue.

I initially was leaning toward dark blue, but after reading everyone else's comments, I think "letting it be" will work magnificently, too.
Though, perhaps the shiny-ness of it will be bothersome. Do they make eco-friendly dulling spray?
